The Hazara-Danish Federation
HADAF is a voluntary, non-profit membership organisation for Hazaras living in Denmark. It was founded in 2021 and was known as Dansk Hazara Forening until September 2025.
What the organisation works for
HADAF is a non-profit, educational and international organisation. We work to provide humanitarian relief, and to strengthen the cultural, social and democratic participation of Hazara-Danes in Danish society — with particular emphasis on children and young people taking an active part in democratic communities. Our work must lead, directly or indirectly, to humanitarian relief for the Hazara people and for other groups affected by persecution, crisis and disaster.
The organisation is independent of party political, economic, ethnic and religious interests, and is founded on humanitarian, human-rights and democratic values. All members are welcome regardless of origin, ethnicity, nationality, age, disability, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, religion or political conviction.
The full text is set out in our statutes, available on request from info@hadaf.nu.
How the organisation is governed
The national assembly is the highest authority. It meets every September, and every member has a vote. The assembly elects a national board of seven — chair, vice-chair, treasurer and four ordinary members — for one year at a time, along with two internal auditors. Amending the statutes requires a two-thirds majority.
The national board meets regularly. Beneath it sit the working groups for communications, recruitment, fundraising, events, asylum casework, and relief and development work.
Local associations are separate entities with their own statutes, approved by the national board. The first, HADAF Copenhagen, was founded on 23 November 2025.
The chair since September 2025 is Yasser Ghanbari, who can be reached at info@hadaf.nu.

Partners and memberships
HADAF has been a member of CISU — Civil Society in Development since 2023. Applications for membership of the Danish Youth Council (DUF) and the Danish Adult Education Association (DFS) have been submitted and are pending.
Humanitarian work in Afghanistan is carried out with Shuhada Organization, founded in 1989, which works on health, education, human rights and emergency relief across several Afghan provinces. Earlier appeals were distributed through DACAAR.
In Denmark we work with Amnesty International Denmark, the Danish Refugee Council, DFUNK, Dansk Folkehjælp and others. The Fly With Me festival was created by the British theatre company Good Chance Theatre, which HADAF helped launch in 2022.
